ABOUT US
YEC INC
Under the mentorship of Cheyney University Basketball Legend Yolanda Laney since 2002. Paul Jordan and James Eaddy assisted Ms. Laney with basketball skills training for boys & girls at the Daniel E. Rumph II Recreation Center (formerly Mallery Rec. Ctr).
In 2010, Paul Jordan and James Eaddy founded YEC INC. to further promote and advance youth basketball in the Northwest section of Philadelphia through the Skills & Drills (Mentoring Thru Basketball Program). Over the past two decades over1000 aspiring basketball players have come through the Skills & Drills Program at the Daniel Rumph Center.
Our primary goal is to increase youth participation in the sport of basketball through skill development, league/tournament play, love and mentoring. An integral component of YEC INC is our Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions. These sessions will give our young people the opportunity to have conversations with peers & adults to establish ways to problem solve and build positive peer relationships at home, school & community.

OUR PROGRAM
YEC INC Social/Emotional Learning Program
Positive Peer Interaction Sessions
Our Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions will give young people ages (10-18) a safe space to focus on character building strategies and positive peer interaction. These sessions will give youths the opportunity to think, reflect and resolve conflicts with respect and humility.
The primary goal of our SEL sessions is to give youth positive, proactive alternatives to arguments and behaviors that adversely impact relationship with peers at school or in the community.
Facilitators will discuss issues impacting young people at home, school and community. This trauma-informed, therapeutic program will focus to help young people avoid the often tragic consequences of negative peer interactions. Peer interactions that are not positive frequently lead to the gun violence that is destroying the lives of young people and families in Philadelphia.
Our sessions will occur in schools and the community. We will target grades (5-12) in school and ages (10-18) in the community. We are currently facilitating (SEL) sessions as a component of our Skills & Drills program Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm and on Saturdays from 8:30am – 1pm for all athletes in attendance.
